The Easter Bank Holiday weekend is set to kick off bright and breezy, giving Brits a nice break after a soggy end to the working week.

Sunny Start to Easter Bank Holiday

Prepare for plenty of fine, settled weather as the weekend begins. Good Friday promises sunshine, especially in western regions. It will be chilly at dawn with frost in some areas. But by day, temperatures could hit a comfy 16-17°C under clearer skies.

However, eastern coasts won’t be as lucky. Expect cloud cover, light rain, and some fog patches drifting in from the North Sea.

Rain Rolls In by Easter Monday

But don’t get too comfortable. An Atlantic weather system is edging closer, ready to stir things up by Easter Monday.

Met Office Chief Forecaster Dan Suri warns of “bands of rain – with some heavy bursts in places” moving across on Wednesday and early Thursday. After that clears, expect a mix of sunshine and showers before high pressure builds, bringing a calmer Good Friday and Easter Saturday.

Unsettled End to the Weekend

Deputy Chief Forecaster David Oliver says: “Similar weather will linger on Easter Saturday, but the Atlantic will increasingly take control by later in the weekend.”

A frontal system will push in from the west, smashing through the high pressure and unleashing rain across the UK on Easter Sunday and Monday. Timing is a bit iffy, but once the rain moves on, blustery showers will follow.

So, enjoy the sunshine while it lasts – the Easter Bank Holiday is throwing a weather curveball after the fine start!
