A 53-year-old man has been charged over the disappearance of an 11-year-old girl from Galashiels who vanished last Sunday, February 5.

Andrew George Miller, now known as Amy George, is due to appear at Selkirk Sheriff Court today. A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal for further action.

Chief Superintendent Catriona Paton, commander for Lothians and Scottish Borders, praised the public’s incredible support. “The people of Galashiels really came together and supported each other, the emergency services and search teams,” she said.

Police Tighten Patrols Amid Ongoing Enquiries

Paton added, “We believe this incident to be contained and enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.” She confirmed high visibility patrols will increase to reassure the community.

“Anyone with concerns can speak to an officer at any time,” she urged.
