A Man Who Changed His Clothing And Cleaned The Murder Weapon To Avoid Being Implicated In A Fatal Stabbing Has Been Jailed

Man Jailed for Life Over Brutal Bedford Stabbing

Frederico Saurini, 52, was sentenced to life behind bars with a minimum of 14 years after being convicted of murdering 26-year-old Kameron Campbell in Bedford last year.

Stabbed After Row at Palgrave Road

Campbell was fatally stabbed during a heated row involving a woman at a Palgrave Road address. Armed with an eight-inch knife, Saurini “threw himself” at Campbell, inflicting a fatal wound to his chest so severe the blade emerged from his back.

During the four-week trial at Luton Crown Court, the court heard how the knife was wiped clean and returned before Saurini changed his blood-splattered t-shirt—yet made no call to emergency services.

CCTV Shows Victim Collapsing Outside

CCTV footage captured Campbell collapsing just yards from the property. A passerby found him and called for an ambulance, but despite medics’ efforts, Campbell was pronounced dead later that same day.

Family Pays Tearful Tributes

“Kameron was a much-loved son, grandson, brother, nephew, papa, boyfriend and friend, who loved the people in his life with passion,” said his father in a victim impact statement.

His mother described him as “a loving, caring boy that would help anyone.”

Judge Labels Case ‘Highly Unusual and Tragic’

Sentencing at the Old Bailey, His Honour Judge Michael Topolski KC called the case “highly unusual and unusually tragic,” praising police for an “investigation and support model of its kind.”

Detective Inspector Richard Stott praised the verdict but acknowledged the lasting trauma for Campbell’s family.

“While knife crime is falling in Bedfordshire, the devastation it brings remains profound. Anyone carrying a blade risks tragic consequences—as we’ve seen,” Stott said.

Bedfordshire Police will keep hunting those who carry and use knives, working with partners to tackle knife crime’s deadly impact.

Knife Crime Falls But Dangers Remain

Knife crime in Bedfordshire dropped roughly 14% in 2022/23, with over 4,100 weapons handed in—an all-time high—showing the ongoing fight against deadly violence continues.
