Bird Box Barcelona Brings New Terror to Netflix
The post-apocalyptic horror universe of Bird Box is expanding — this time from Spain. Bird Box Barcelona follows father-daughter duo Sebastian and Anna as they join a group of survivors hunting for safety in a world gone mad.
Star-Studded Cast and Directors
Directed by Àlex and David Pastor, the thriller stars The Paramedic actor Mario Casas as Sebastian and Barbarian star Georgina Campbell as Anna. They’re backed by a cracking cast including Diego Calva, Alejandra Howard, Gonzalo de Castro, Michelle Jenner, Patrick Criado, Naila Schuberth, Leonardo Sbaraglia, Lola Dueñas, and Celia Freijeiro.
New Nightmares Await in Barcelona
Fans will encounter the deadly monsters from the original Bird Box, but this time, there’s a chilling new threat lurking in the shadows. The film is based on Josh Malerman’s book of the same name—the author behind the original Bird Box novel.
Sequel Rumours and Malerman’s New Book
Though a direct sequel to the 2018 hit isn’t confirmed, Malerman is working on a follow-up novel, Malorie, exploring the story of Sandra Bullock’s iconic character. He said:
“The Bird Box world is Malorie’s story, and I wanted to know more about her. I wanted to get to know her even better. At the end of the movie, I turned to my Allison and said: ‘I want to know what happens next!’ And she’s like: ‘Well, you know, you could make that happen,’ so it really was this warm feeling.”
