Kent Police shut westbound M20 after serious incident – no reopening time yet

Kent Police are leading the response to a major incident reported to National Highways at 2:50pm. The westbound carriageway of the M20 is currently closed while officers work at the scene. There’s no word on when the road will reopen.

National Highways has staff on-site helping manage traffic. Police and traffic teams are working hard to clear the blockage and release vehicles as a priority.

Diversion Route – Follow the Square Symbol

If you’re heading westbound, follow the hollow square diversion signs on local roads:

  • Exit the M20 at Junction 9
  • Take the A20 west towards maidstone/" title="Maidstone" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Maidstone
  • Rejoin the M20 at Junction 8

Expect delays. If your journey is affected, allow extra time or consider rerouting or delaying your trip.
