A man has been arrested and charged with assault in connection with a disturbance that occurred in Stonehaven. Police responded to a call in the Broomhill Road area at approximately 10:40 BST on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, following reports of a disturbance.
Upon arrival, emergency services attended the scene, and a 30-year-old man, identified as David McGuinness from Inverurie, was transported to the hospital. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
A 50-year-old man has been taken into custody and charged in connection with the assault. He is scheduled to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Thursday, September 28, 2023.
David McGuinness was a beloved son, partner, brother, uncle, and devoted father to his four young children. His family, deeply affected by his untimely passing, has released a statement through Police Scotland, expressing their profound grief and requesting privacy during this challenging period.
Detective Inspector James Callander extended condolences to David’s family and friends, acknowledging the difficulty they are facing. He emphasised that the family has asked for privacy as they cope with their loss, and their thoughts are with them during this trying time.
