Police Constable Rachel Bright, a serving officer attached to the South West Command Unit, is set to make an appearance at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 10 October. The charge against her is related to a sexual assault incident that allegedly occurred while she was off duty in December 2022. The victim involved in the incident is reported to be someone known to PC Bright.
The charges against PC Bright were filed through a postal charge requisition in mid-September, indicating that the authorities have thoroughly investigated the matter and found sufficient evidence to proceed with legal action.
As a result of the serious nature of the charge, PC Bright has been suspended from her duties as a police officer pending the outcome of the court proceedings.
The Metropolitan Police encourages anyone who has been a victim of sexual assault or has information related to such incidents to come forward and report it to the authorities. Support services are available to provide assistance and guidance to victims during this difficult time.
