Tragedy at Drayton Manor: 11-Year-Old Girl Dies on Rapids Ride

An 11-year-old girl has tragically died after falling from the Splash Canyon rapids ride during a school trip at Drayton Manor theme park. The ride was immediately closed following the incident on Tuesday.

Emergency Response at Drayton Manor

Staffordshire Police confirmed the girl, believed to be from Leicester, was airlifted to Birmingham Children’s Hospital around 2:20pm. Sadly, she was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.

The Health and Safety Executive has been notified and is investigating the incident.

Park Director Issues Heartfelt Statement

George Bryan, Company Director at Drayton Manor, expressed deep sorrow: “It is with great sadness that we report a young girl has passed away following an incident on one of our rides this afternoon.”

Rapid Medical Aid at the Scene

The West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed they dispatched a full emergency response including paramedics, a senior paramedic officer, and the Midlands Air Ambulance.

“The first resource was on scene within seven minutes,” they added, highlighting the swift efforts to save the girl’s life.
