Firework Blast Injures Two Men in Kirkby

Police have confirmed a serious firework incident in Kirkby today, leaving two men badly hurt. The shocking explosion happened just before 12:30pm on Brook Hey Drive, where a loud bang was reported.

Firework Detonates Inside Car

Reports say a firework exploded inside a black BMW, seriously injuring the two men inside. Both suffered injuries to their faces and hands. They were rushed to a nearby hospital, but thankfully, their injuries are not life-threatening.

After the blast, the vehicle sped off, leaving police scrambling to find the driver. Investigations reveal the explosion was accidental.

Police Warn Public to Handle Fireworks Responsibly

“Accidents like these can cause serious or fatal injuries. We urge the public to exercise caution and remember it’s illegal for anyone under 18 to possess or use fireworks in public places,” said Chief Inspector Duncan Swan.

He added a stern warning: forget private firework parties at home. Instead, attend organised, controlled displays to stay safe and avoid dangerous accidents or out-of-control bonfires.
