Man Charged After Brutal Robbery of Elderly Woman in Bexleyheath
Detectives have charged a man over a vicious robbery targeting an 81-year-old woman in Bexleyheath.
Jay Makwana Arrested and Charged
Jay Makwana, 40, from Northumberland Park, Erith, Kent, was arrested on Tuesday, 24 November. He was charged with robbery two days later on 26 November at a south London police station.
Victim Suffers Facial Injuries in Shocking Attack
The incident happened on Thursday, 19 November, at the Marketplace in Bexleyheath. The elderly woman was robbed of cash and suffered facial injuries during the attack.
She was rushed to a south London hospital by the London Ambulance Service, where medics confirmed her injuries were not life-threatening.
Makwana Remanded in Custody
Makwana was remanded in custody and appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court the same day he was charged.
