Son Sentenced to Life for Murdering His Own Mother in Newport
Lewis Bush, 27, from Newport, has been handed a life sentence after killing his 44-year-old mother, Kelly Pitt, earlier this year.
Guilty Plea Brings Justice
Bush pleaded guilty to murder last month and was sentenced today, Friday 10 November, at Newport Crown Court. The tragic murder happened at Kelly Pitt’s home in Newport back in May.
Family Left Devastated
Detective Chief Inspector Virginia Davies, lead investigator, expressed sympathy for the grieving family. She said:
“The family of Kelly Pitt are left devastated by the loss of their beloved mother, grandmother, and sister at the hands of her son. I want to pay tribute to them for the strength they have shown during this extremely difficult time.”
“Nothing will compensate for their loss, and our thoughts remain with them.”
Call to Action Against Domestic Abuse
Detective Davies also urged victims to come forward:
“I want to reassure anyone reporting domestic abuse or violence that there is a wide range of support services available, and we encourage you to come forward.”
