Man charged with attempted cash machine theft in New Ash Green

A suspect is to appear in court charged in connection with the attempted theft of a cash machine in New Ash Green.

Kent Police was called just before 5.20am on Monday 27 November 2023 to a report that a vehicle had driven into a Co-op store in The Row. Significant damage was caused to the front of the shop, as well as a cash machine.

An investigation is being led by the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate and on Friday 1 December, Leonard Jones was arrested.

Mr Jones, 40, of Selbys, Lingfield, Surrey was charged with burglary and with aggravated vehicle taking, causing more than £5,000 of damage to property. He was further charged with driving without a licence and driving without insurance and remanded to a hearing at Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court, on Monday 4 December.
