Sussex Police Tear Through Crime in October: 29 Arrests and Major Drug Hauls

Sussex Police’s West Sussex Tactical Enforcement Unit (TEU) smashed crime last month with 29 arrests and 33 premises searches — including 12 warrants — all in October alone.

Big Busts at Worthing and Billingshurst

The TEU, a specialist squad tackling serious crime, hit a major jackpot on 23 October in Worthing. At a St Georges Road address, cops seized over 5kg of cannabis and a whopping £25,000 in cash.

A 32-year-old Worthing man was snapped up on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a Class B drug. He’s currently on bail as inquiries continue.

Earlier, on 8 October, another warrant in Cleve Way, Billingshurst uncovered a cache of weapons including a pistol, airsoft guns, knives, plus drugs. A 51-year-old woman and a 37-year-old man from Billingshurst were arrested for possession with intent to supply and firearm offences.

Burglary Arrests and More Crime Crackdowns

Two suspects were also picked up over a brazen burglary in Newlands Park, Copthorne on 25 October. The pair reportedly swiped thousands in jewellery while pretending to view a house. A 65-year-old man from Sutton and a 57-year-old woman from Epsom face burglary charges.

Other arrests ranged from sexual offences to assault, stalking, and harassment.

Police Praise TEU’s Tireless Work

“It has been a successful month and the team have worked extremely hard to protect the community,” said Police Sergeant Andy Bryant.

“The team have worked day and night to make sure premises which need searching are searched. Knives, weapons and drugs are a danger to the public, and the TEU are making sure they’re taken from their owners.”
