Eight Arrested and Four Officers Injured in Camberwell Protests

The Met Police are currently responding to a protest gathering in Camberwell Road, SE5, where approximately 50 individuals have congregated outside a private venue. Additional officers are en route to the location to assist in managing the demonstration. some of the protestors involved have armed themselves with weapons and lumps of wood.

The situation is under close monitoring by Officers from the Met Police Public Order Team, as gatherings of this nature can pose potential challenges to public safety and order. Police are on-site to ensure that the protest remains peaceful and lawful.

In response to the gathering, a Section 35 dispersal order has been implemented in the area of Camberwell Road, Southwark. This order is in effect until 7 am tomorrow. Under the dispersal order, police officers have the authority to exclude individuals from the specified area for a period of up to 48 hours, provided they have the approval of an Inspector.

The dispersal order is a measure aimed at preventing any potential disruption, ensuring the safety of both participants and the local community, and upholding the rule of law.
