Armed Protest Sparks Police Response on Camberwell Road

The Met Police are scrambling to control a tense protest outside a private venue on Camberwell Road, SE5. Around 50 protesters have gathered, some brandishing weapons and chunks of wood, prompting extra officers to rush to the scene.

Dispersal Order Enforced to Curb Disorder

To tackle the chaos, the police have slapped a Section 35 dispersal order on the area, effective until 7am tomorrow. This order allows officers, with Inspector approval, to remove troublemakers from the zone for up to 48 hours.

Met’s Public Order Team is keeping a tight watch on the crowd to prevent any violence or disruption. The priority is a peaceful and lawful protest without risk to the local community.

Police Urge Calm and Cooperation

“We continue to engage with those present and encourage cooperation to ensure a peaceful outcome. Public safety remains our top priority,” police stated.

The Met has been contacted for an official comment regarding the armed protesters. Stay tuned for updates as the situation evolves on Camberwell Road.
