A419 Road Closed in Wiltshire Due to Traffic Collision – Expect Delays

The A419 in Wiltshire has been closed in both directions between the A4259 and M4 junction 15 (near Swindon) due to a serious road traffic collision. The incident has prompted a road closure and the closure of the M4 J15 exit slip road in both directions, causing significant travel disruptions.

Emergency services have swiftly responded to the scene to assess and manage the situation. However, the closure of this key road artery has led to the implementation of diversion routes to minimize inconvenience to motorists.

Diversion Route for Northbound Travelers:

For northbound travellers, road signs featuring a hollow circle diversion symbol guide the way:

  1. At M4 J16 exit slip roundabout, take the 4th exit onto Great Western Way and follow the A3102 signed Swindon.
  2. Continue along the A3102 until you reach the Mannington Roundabout, where you should take the 2nd exit onto the B4006.
  3. Follow the B4006 and at the Bruce Street Bridges Roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto the B4289.
  4. Continue along the B4289 and at the Transfer Bridges roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto the A4289.
  5. At the next roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto the A4289 and then onto the A4312.
  6. At Drakes Roundabout, take the 1st exit onto the A4312.
  7. At Common Head Roundabout, take the 4th exit to rejoin the A419.

Diversion Route for Southbound Travelers:

If you are travelling southbound, follow the diversion route in reverse, which will also be indicated by road signs featuring a hollow triangle diversion symbol.

Motorists are strongly advised to follow these diversion routes and allow extra time for their journeys. If your planned route is impacted by this closure, consider rerouting or delaying your journey if possible. Safety is paramount, and adhering to diversion instructions will help alleviate congestion and ensure a smooth flow of traffic during this period of disruption.

Please stay updated on traffic conditions and be prepared for possible delays as emergency services work diligently to manage the incident and clear the roadway
