Murder Investigation: Woman Found Dead in Greenock, Scotland

A woman who was found dead in Banff Road in Greenock was murdered according to detectives. Alison McLaughlin, 53, and Neil McLaughlin, 57, were discovered deceased on Friday, January 5, 2024.

Police Scotland launched extensive inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Detective Inspector Gordon Smith, leading the investigation, conveyed that while Alison’s death is being treated as murder, Neil’s passing is considered non-suspicious. Officials have ruled out the involvement of any third party, assuring the public that there is no one else being sought in connection with the tragic deaths.

“Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of both Alison and Neil. They have asked for privacy at what is a very difficult time for them,” expressed Detective Inspector Smith.

As the authorities conclude their proceedings, a comprehensive report will be forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal for further examination.
