Drug-Fuelled Sexual Abuse Shocker in Lancashire

Last March, police were tipped off about chilling incidents involving Azam Khan (pictured) handing out drugs like nitrous oxide, ketamine, and cocaine to young girls. The victims were then taken to hotels and homes in Chorley and Darwen, where they were sexually abused.

Lancashire Police Crack Down

Lancashire Police swiftly launched an investigation, working alongside social workers from Lancashire County Council to support the victims. Specially trained officers interviewed the girls and gathered damning evidence. It emerged that Khan, also known as ‘Kaizer’, and Jack Anderson-Rigby ran a major drug-dealing ring, flogging drugs via Snapchat and social media across Lancashire.

Justice Served: Khan Jailed for Nine Years

Khan, 29, formerly of Blackburn, was found guilty at Preston Crown Court after a seven-day trial. Convictions included sexual activity with a child, four counts of sexual assault, and attempting to engage a person in sexual activity without consent. He was also convicted of dealing Class A, B, and C drugs.

Judge Simon Medland KC sentenced Khan to nine years behind bars and slapped him with a lifetime placement on the sex offenders’ register.

Accomplice Slapped with Suspended Sentence

Anderson-Rigby, 22, of Charnock Richard, pleaded guilty to possession of controlled drugs with intent to supply and sexual assault on a child. He received a two-year prison sentence, suspended for two years.

Lancashire Detective Speaks Out

Detective Sergeant Simon Massey of Lancashire Police’s South Exploitation Team said: “These were very serious offences committed by Khan. Khan has shown himself to be a sexual predator, taking advantage of teenage girls by offering them drugs and sexually assaulting them.

The victims showed great courage in difficult circumstances – against a background of threats and intimidation – to attend court and give their evidence at the trial.

Lancashire Police take sexual offences extremely seriously and we do everything in our power to put offenders before the courts and bring them to justice.”
