A man is facing attempted murder charges after a woman was brutally stabbed in Bexley.
The incident unfolded on Penhill Road shortly after 4 pm on Tuesday, January 16, when the Met Police received reports of a woman suffering from stab wounds.
The victim, believed to be in her 30s, remains in critical condition as of Monday, January 22, indicating the severity of her injuries.
Tony Curant, a 33-year-old resident of the same road where the incident occurred, has been charged with attempted murder and will be making an appearance at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
Inspector Graham Rickard, who leads the policing team for south-east London, provided insights into the police’s rapid response to the incident, stating, “We arrived at the scene within three minutes of the initial report and provided first aid to the victim until paramedics arrived.
Tragically, despite the immediate efforts, the victim sustained severe injuries and was transported to the hospital in critical condition.
Inspector Rickard further revealed that it is believed the victim and the alleged attacker were acquainted with each other.
Details surrounding any prior arrests in connection with this case had not been disclosed until today. The Metropolitan Police has now confirmed the arrest and subsequent charges against the man, bringing him to justice for the shocking attempted murder.
