Loft-Lurking Cannabis Grower Gets 12 Months Behind Bars
A 38-year-old man was found hiding in a loft inside a suspected cannabis farm and has now been slapped with a 12-month prison sentence after admitting to producing a Class B drug.
Police Raid Exposes Cannabis Factory in Corby
Klodi Sulka was caught red-handed at a house on Dresden Close, Danesholme estate, Corby. Officers from the local Neighbourhood Policing Team executed a warrant under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act on Friday, February 9.
During the raid, police discovered Sulka stashed in the loft near ventilation pipes. The property was filled with 164 cannabis plants in various growth stages, spread across three bedrooms and the garage.
High-Tech Grow Operation Worth Up to £57,500
Officers unearthed a sophisticated setup inside the home, including extractor fans, grow lamps, and a watering system. The plants’ estimated wholesale value ranged from £43,500 to £57,500.
Sulka was the only person at the property when police swooped. In his police interview, he claimed to be just the ‘gardener’, following instructions to water and maintain the plants.
Quick Justice for Suspected Cannabis Producer
Charged with producing a controlled Class B drug, Sulka pled guilty at Northampton Magistrates’ Court the day after his arrest. He was held in custody and his case was sent to Northampton Crown Court.
On Monday, March 25, the judge sentenced Sulka to 12 months in prison for his role in the cannabis operation.
