Drunk driver Paul Coe banned again after nearly four times the alcohol limit

Repeat offender caught swerving under the influence

Paul Coe, 34, has landed himself in hot water once more after being caught nearly four times over the legal alcohol limit. Breath tests showed Coe had 130mg of alcohol per 100ml of breath — the UK legal limit is just 35mg.

Coe already has a notorious past. In 2007, he was jailed for five years after a drunken driving crash killed 16-year-old schoolgirl Lisa Jermy. Despite a ten-year driving ban and that brutal conviction, he was back in court for the same offence.

Family devastation and calls for tougher penalties

Lisa’s father, Peter Jermy, slammed Coe’s repeated offences. He revealed the trauma from that crash contributed to the loss of his wife. Peter demands stricter jail sentences for serious repeat offenders like Coe, to stop these tragic incidents from happening again.

Coe blames argument, but gets slammed in court

During this latest case, Coe initially denied the charges but later pleaded guilty. He told the court an argument with his partner left him not in his “normal state of mind.” No sympathy was shown. The court slapped him with a fresh two-year driving ban and fined him £483 in costs.

A stark warning on dangerous repeat drivers

Coe’s shocking relapse behind the wheel highlights the urgent need for tougher laws and penalties to deter reckless drink-driving. His case is a grim reminder that some offenders keep risking lives despite clear consequences — leaving heartbroken families in their wake.
