Fight Caught on CCTV Escalates Outside Shop
The dispute kicked off inside the chicken shop before boiling over onto Queen Street. CCTV footage shows the violent clash, where the boy sustained multiple stab wounds in the street brawl.
Two Arrested and Charged Over Brutal Attack
Police quickly identified and arrested two suspects: 19-year-old Kaya Adu and 21-year-old Rushi Jadeja. Both have pleaded guilty to Section 18 grievous bodily harm charges. Adu also faces an extra charge for carrying an offensive weapon in public.
Police Praise Rapid Response as Sentencing Looms
Detective Chief Inspector Greg Wood from the Essex and Kent Serious Crime Directorate slammed the violence in a busy early evening spot but praised officers and paramedics for their swift actions.
“This shocking incident in a bustling area highlights the importance of prompt law enforcement and medical response,” said DCI Wood.
The guilty pleas have spared the young victim a court ordeal, with sentencing for Adu and Jadeja set for June 4 at Chelmsford Crown Court.
