PC James Barrett-Barnett Found Guilty at Huntingdon Crown Court

PC James Barrett-Barnett, 25, was convicted on Tuesday at Huntingdon Crown Court. He faced two counts of sexual assault and one count of sexual assault by penetration. The court heard how Barrett-Barnett got into bed with the victim after the night out and attacked her. Despite his admission of the act, he claimed it was consensual.

Barrett-Barnett, who lives locally, now faces internal misconduct action from Bedfordshire Police. Deputy Chief Constable Dan Vajzovic slammed the officer’s behaviour, saying, “There is no place in policing for male violence.” He praised the victim’s courage in coming forward and providing vital evidence that led to justice.

Force Vows Zero Tolerance for Officer Misconduct

Vajzovic underlined the force’s commitment to cracking down on any officer whose actions damage public trust. “All reports of misconduct are taken with the utmost seriousness,” he said.
