Seaside Pub The Osborne View to Rise from Ashes After Devastating Fire
Flames Rip Through Hill Head Favourite
The Osborne View, a beloved seaside pub in Hill Head, is set for a full rebuild after a fierce fire tore through the venue on February 22. Flames soared up to 10 feet, with scorching temperatures hitting 330°C. The blaze, sparked by an electrical fault in a tumble dryer, completely destroyed the building.
Firefighters battled hard, hauling water all the way from the nearby Solent to douse the inferno. Despite their efforts, the pub was lost.
Community Left Reeling, But Rebuild Plans Underway
Staff who lived above the pub were quickly rehoused in hotels. Meanwhile, contractors have been on-site regularly to secure the area and ensure safety. Matt Kearsey, Managing Director of Hall and Woodhouse, which owns the pub, pledged a determined comeback.
“Hall and Woodhouse is committed to rebuilding The Osborne View Hotel to return it to our valued guests,” said Kearsey.
He added the timeline is still being hammered out, but progress is steady. The pub will soon reclaim its spot as a community hub in Fareham.
Looking Ahead: A New Chapter for The Osborne View
The Osborne View has long been a cherished hotspot for locals and tourists alike, famed for its stunning views and lively atmosphere. The community is eagerly awaiting its return.
Kearsey also thanked locals for their patience and support during the recovery. He reaffirmed Hall and Woodhouse’s commitment to helping those affected by the tragedy, both practically and emotionally.
