Breakthrough in 40-Year-Old Olive Wilkinson Murder Case

Detectives have arrested a 63-year-old man in a major breakthrough in the decades-old murder of Olive Wilkinson. The arrest comes after renewed investigations into the shocking 1983 killing in Cleethorpes.

Olive Wilkinson Found Dead at Home

Olive Wilkinson, 36, was discovered dead inside her family home on Montague Street, Cleethorpes, on June 10, 1983. She had suffered fatal injuries. Despite exhaustive efforts, the case went cold, leaving Olive’s family without answers for more than 40 years.

Cold Case Review Sparks New Arrest

The breakthrough followed a cold case review launched in 2023, triggered by fresh information related to Olive’s case. Detective Chief Inspector Amy Keane-Christie, leading the Major Crime Team, stressed the importance of this new development.

“The information received has led to the arrest of a man who is a new suspect in the investigation. Our dedicated team of specialist detectives is actively reviewing and progressing the case,” she said.

Family Updated as Search Continues

Olive’s family has been informed of the arrest and is receiving support from family liaison officers. Scene guards remain at key Cleethorpes locations while searches carry on.

Detective Keane-Christie urged the public to come forward with any information.

“If you have concerns or details that may assist our investigation, please speak to one of our officers. Alternatively, you can report information anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111 or call our non-emergency number, quoting investigation reference log 69 of May 21.”
