The body of British kayaker Bren Orton, who disappeared while kayaking on the Melezza River in the Ticino region of southern Switzerland, has been found after more than two weeks of intensive search efforts.
Orton, a 29-year-old adventurer based in Warrington, encountered trouble on the river on May 16. According to reports, he was caught in recirculating waves and dragged underwater, failing to resurface. His disappearance prompted an extensive search operation involving local authorities, rescue teams, and fellow kayakers.
Pyranha Kayaks, the British company for which Orton served as an ambassador, confirmed the tragic news on Saturday. In a statement, a spokesperson expressed deep sadness: “It is with immense sorrow that we announce that our friend and ambassador Bren Orton is no longer with us.”

In 2019, Orton achieved a remarkable feat by setting the British record for the highest waterfall descent navigated in a kayak. He fearlessly plunged 128 feet down the Big Banana Falls in Mexico, capturing the attention of adventure enthusiasts and amassing a following of 60,000 on Instagram and YouTube.
