Deliberate Fire Rocks Greenock Flats in Early Hours
Greenock authorities are on high alert after a deliberate fire broke out in the common close of a flat block on Dellingburn Street in the early hours of Sunday, June 30, 2024. Emergency crews rushed to the scene to tackle the blaze.
Scottish Fire and Rescue Quell Blaze, No Injuries Reported
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service quickly extinguished the fire, and thankfully, no one was hurt. Despite the swift response, the incident is being treated as serious arson, with investigations ongoing and leads actively pursued.
Police Urge Public to Help Snare Fire-raisers
“Thankfully, nobody was harmed due to this dangerous and reckless act. Our extensive inquiries are ongoing, and we are determined to identify those responsible,” said Detective Inspector Nicky Beattie of Greenock CID.
Detective Inspector Beattie appealed directly to the public: “If you saw anything suspicious or have any information, please get in touch. We’re especially keen to review private CCTV, dash-cam footage, or video doorbell recordings.”
