Man attacked with noxious substance in Sittingbourne

Kent Police was called to a disturbance in the village during the evening of Thursday 4 July 2023, before attending patrols located a suspect in an outbuilding off Woodbury Road.

It is alleged as the man was being arrested, a constable was punched in the face. The suspect was detained and taken to hospital for treatment to a leg injury. On arrival at the hospital, it is reported further attempts were made to kick and headbutt police, with one officer bitten on the hand.

Cameron Jeffery, 21, of Vale Road, Hawkhurst was later taken into custody and charged with four counts of assaulting an emergency worker. He appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 6 July and was granted conditional bail. His next hearing will be at Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on Friday 26 July.
