Romford Man Jailed for Brutal Week-Long Rape and Abuse

A 25-year-old man from Dagenham has been locked up for over a decade after a horrifying week of violence and sexual assault in Romford. Sam Price forced his victim to stay in her home, where he subjected her to sustained abuse, threats, and rape.

Ten Years Behind Bars for Rape and Assault

Price, of Central Park Avenue, appeared at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Friday, 5 July. He was sentenced to ten and a half years in prison for rape and two counts of assault. He also received a lifetime restraining order and will be registered as a sex offender for life.

Week-Long Ordeal of Violence and Intimidation

The nightmare began on Sunday 16 July 2023 when Price met the woman and exchanged details. Within days, the abuse escalated. Price repeatedly punched and bit her, subjected her to threats, and raped her. The terrifying ordeal lasted seven days, during which the victim was trapped and intimidated.

Swift Police Action Led to Arrest and Justice

After Price left the property, the victim contacted a friend who immediately alerted police. Officers quickly gathered CCTV footage and witness statements, launching a covert manhunt that led to Price’s arrest at a Dagenham address. He was interviewed by the Metropolitan Police’s East Area Public Protection Unit on 26 July.

Following a trial in April, Price was found guilty of rape and assault, having earlier pleaded guilty to another assault charge.

Police Praise Victim’s Courage and Call for More Reports

PC Ugne Draz, Sexual Offences Liaison Officer: “The victim has shown incredible courage throughout this investigation. It’s been a long process, but her bravery has ensured that Sam Price has been brought to justice.”

Detective Constable Jess Stephens: “This conviction is a powerful result. We hope it encourages more women to come forward and report these crimes. Tackling violence against women and girls remains a top priority.”
