Kenya Serial Killer Confesses to Murdering 42 Women
A suspected Kenyan serial killer has shocked the nation after confessing to murdering 42 women over the last two years. Police say Collins Jumaisi Khalusha, 33, admitted to luring, killing, and disposing of the victims’ bodies.
Arrest After Euro 2024 Final
Khalusha was arrested at 3 a.m. Monday outside a Nairobi club where he had been watching the Euro 2024 soccer final, Kenya’s director of criminal investigations Mohamed Amin revealed. So far, only nine of the 42 bodies have been recovered, found in heavily mutilated states at a dumpsite near the suspect’s home in Soweto, east of Nairobi.
“We are dealing with a psychopathic serial killer who has no respect for life,” Amin said.
Disturbing Details Emerge
During questioning, Khalusha confessed the first victim was his wife, whom he strangled before dismembering her and dumping her body. Police recovered items including a machete, gloves, and multiple phones from his single-room rented house just 100 metres from the crime scenes.
Acting Inspector General Douglas Kanja described the bodies as “severely dismembered” and “in different states of decomposition,” most found stuffed in sacks in an abandoned quarry that doubles as a dumpsite.
Calls for Action on Gender Violence
Female leaders and campaigners have responded with outrage, demanding tougher protection for women across Kenya. Kajiado lawmaker Leah Sankaire Sopiato questioned how a killer of 42 women could roam free for so long.
“Which woman is next in line? Women’s lives must count, and women’s lives must be protected,” she said.
The group is urging police to reinstate specialised gender desks with trained officers nationwide to tackle rising femicide and domestic violence.
As the shockwaves ripple through Kenya, authorities face pressure to overhaul measures to safeguard vulnerable women and stop such horrific crimes from happening again.
