Garden BBQ Blaze in Gravesend Sparks Late-Night Fire Alarm
Kent Fire and Rescue Service rushed to a garden fire on Valley Drive, Gravesend, in the early hours of Saturday, 20 July. The alarm rang out at 3.51am after garden furniture caught fire.
Two Fire Engines Battle Flames with High-Tech Gear
Firefighters arrived fast with two fire engines, dousing the blaze using high-pressure hose reel jets. They also deployed lighting, thermal imaging cameras, and small tools to contain the fire swiftly and safely.
Fire Under Control Within 35 Minutes – No Injuries
The flames were controlled by 4.26am. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Early investigations suggest the fire started accidentally from an unattended disposable BBQ left burning.
Fire Service Issues Safety Warning
“We urge everyone to be cautious when using disposable BBQs. Ensure they are never left unattended and are completely extinguished after use to prevent accidents like this,” a Kent Fire and Rescue spokesperson said.
This incident serves as a stark reminder to always keep an eye on outdoor fires — especially those BBQs — to avoid dangerous flare-ups.
