Diver Missing Off Hastings – Massive Sea Search Underway
A diver reported missing after failing to resurface near Hastings has sparked a major rescue operation this afternoon.
Search Launched After Diver Fails to Surface
The diver was expected to surface around 1:10 PM but never reappeared. HM Coastguard was alerted and launched an extensive search at about 1:45 PM, scrambling multiple rescue teams to the area.
Rescue Teams Scramble to Find Missing Diver
- Hastings RNLI inshore lifeboat deployed
- Coastguard helicopter from Lydd joins the hunt
- Following this, the eastbourne/" title="Eastbourne" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Eastbourne Coastguard aircraft lifeboat, Dungeness lifeboat, and Pett Level Independent Lifeboat also joined the mission
“A search for a missing diver, involving Hastings RNLI inshore lifeboat, Coastguard helicopter, fixed-wing aircraft and vessels in the area, is currently ongoing off Hastings,” confirmed an HM Coastguard spokesperson.
Search Continues Into Night, Public Asked to Help
As of 10 PM, the desperate search continues with no sign of the missing diver.
Authorities urge anyone with information to contact HM Coastguard immediately to help bring the diver home safe.
