Bus Driver Arrested After Crash Injures Two Kids in Bexleyheath
A bus driver has been arrested following a serious collision that left two young children injured in Bexleyheath. The crash happened at 9:05am on August 3 on Watling Street near Halcot Avenue.
Tragic Crash Leaves Siblings Hurt
Emergency teams rushed to the scene after the collision involving a bus and two children, siblings aged nine and five. The nine-year-old girl is in a life-threatening condition in hospital, while her five-year-old brother was treated as a precaution and is expected to recover.
The children were with a family member at the time of the crash.
Bus Driver Held on Suspicion of Dangerous Driving
The Metropolitan Police confirmed the bus driver was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury through dangerous and drug-driving. He remains in custody as inquiries continue.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
“At 09:05 hrs on Saturday, 3 August, police were called to a bus collision with two children on Watling Street near Halcot Avenue, Bexleyheath,” a police spokesperson said.
“A nine-year-old girl was taken to hospital by ambulance with life-threatening injuries. A five-year-old boy was taken to hospital as a precaution.
“The children were with a family member at the time. Officers are supporting their family during this difficult time.
“The male bus driver was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury through dangerous and drug-driving and remains in police custody.
“Any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police are asked to call 101 quoting reference 2309/03Aug.”
