Man Arrested for Suspected Drug Driving After Car Overturns in Maidstone

A man has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving after a dramatic car crash in Maidstone left one vehicle overturned on a busy road. The incident occurred around 1:10 PM on August 29 on Upper Stone Street, involving two cars.

The force of the collision caused one of the vehicles to flip over, landing in Lower Stone Street. Emergency services, including police and paramedics, were quickly on the scene, and the road was temporarily closed to manage the situation. The road has since been reopened.

One Witness who raised the alarm near the crash site, described the chaotic scene. He mentioned that one of the men involved in the crash entered the shop to recover before being taken to a hospital in Pembury. I don’t know how it happened, but he sat in the shop recovering. I’m not sure if it was shock or something, but he didn’t want to talk,” Mark said.

Following the incident, a man in his 50s was arrested on suspicion of drug driving. Police have not released further details about the arrested individual or the circumstances leading to the crash.

The incident caused significant disruption in the area, with traffic diverted and emergency services working to clear the scene and ensure the safety of those involved.

Residents and local businesses expressed their concern over the accident, as the stretch of road where the crash occurred is known for being busy, particularly during the day.
