A serving officer of the Royal Gibraltar Police (RGP) has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault, attempted rape, and misconduct in public office. The arrest took place yesterday afternoon, just after 2 p.m., following an allegation made earlier this week.
The 32-year-old officer was apprehended by detectives from the RGP’s Professional Standards Department. The victim in this case is also a serving police officer, and the alleged incident reportedly occurred at New Mole House Police Station.
Following his arrest, the officer was bailed last night with strict conditions while the investigation, led by the Professional Standards Department, continues. In the meantime, the officer has been interdicted from duty.
This serious case has prompted a thorough investigation to ensure all aspects of the allegation are carefully examined. The RGP has emphasised its commitment to upholding the highest standards of conduct within the force, particularly in matters involving its officers.
