Doncaster Man Jailed for 19 Years for Child Rape and Sexual Offences

A 45-year-old man from Doncaster, Lee Grant, has been sentenced to 19 years in prison for a series of sexual offences, including the rape of a child. Grant, who lived on Junction Road in Stainforth, was found guilty of 10 out of 11 charges following a three-week trial at Sheffield Crown Court earlier this year.

Grant’s convictions include two counts of raping a girl aged between 13 and 15, five counts of sexually assaulting a woman, one count of raping a woman, and two counts of indecently assaulting a girl under 14. These offences spanned several decades, with some dating back to the early 1990s, and others having occurred more recently within the past five years.

Detective Constable Leanne Daffern, who led the investigation, praised the victims’ bravery for coming forward. “The courage shown by all of Grant’s victims in coming forward has led to a dangerous predator being put behind bars,” she stated. DC Daffern further urged other potential victims of abuse to speak out, noting that one victim’s decision to report Grant’s crimes led to a thorough investigation and ultimately his conviction.

Grant’s actions have had a severe impact on his victims, with one survivor describing how the abuse “ruined her life,” leading to long-term mental health issues. Despite the overwhelming evidence, Grant maintained his innocence, forcing his victims to relive their trauma during the trial.

The police have reiterated their dedication to investigating sexual abuse cases, regardless of when they occurred. DC Daffern added, “It is never too late to report a sexual offence. We are here to listen and support you every step of the way.”

Authorities hope that this sentence will offer some closure to the survivors and help them move forward from their ordeal.
