Tributes Pour In for Footballer Dylan Akue, 21, Following His Sudden Death

Kent’s football community has been left devastated following the sudden death of talented footballer Dylan Akue, aged 21. Dylan, who had been playing for Sheppey Sports FC this season and was previously on the books at Chatham Town, passed away unexpectedly, leaving friends, family, and fans heartbroken.

Dylan’s death was confirmed after his family found him at home. Sheppey United manager Ernie Batten expressed the shock felt by the club, describing Dylan as “very talented” and a “lovely and humble boy.”

In a heartfelt tribute, Sheppey Sports FC shared on social media: “We are heartbroken to learn of the passing of our player Dylan Akue at the age of just 21. Dylan – who won our Player of the Year award last season – joined us and was instantly a big hit both on and off the pitch. His ability to beat a player, create chances, and score goals was worth the admission price alone. His raw talent was exceptional, and he had the attitude and personality to match it.”

A GoFundMe page set up to support Dylan’s family has already more than doubled its original target of £1,000, with contributions pouring in from teammates and fans alike. One of Dylan’s fellow players donated two weeks of his wages, a gesture that touched many in the football community.

Clubs across Kent have also paid their respects. Staplehurst Monarchs United FC held a minute’s silence before their match against Sheppey Sports, while Junior Elite FC in Beckenham, where Dylan played during the 2017/18 season, remembered him as a “hardworking” midfielder who left a lasting impact on his teammates.

Sheppey United is planning to arrange a tribute event in Dylan’s honour through the sport he loved, ahead of his funeral in the coming weeks. The club has invited as many people as possible to attend the Kent Senior Trophy match at Holm Park on Saturday, September 14, as a way to pay tribute to the talented young player.

The cause of Dylan Akue’s death is yet to be confirmed.
