Suspect Charged After DNA Links Them to Firearm in Thamesmead Raid

A suspect has been charged with firearms and drug offences after DNA evidence allegedly linked them to a gun found during a raid in Thamesmead. The arrest was made on Tuesday, September 17, when police executed a firearms warrant in a joint operation between the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) and Kent Police.

During the search, officers uncovered 3kg of cocaine, amphetamines, tasers, and £70,000 in cash. The suspect was arrested and subsequently charged with multiple offences related to firearms and drugs.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “On Tuesday, September 17, MPS Proactive Investigations (SE BCU) and Kent Police executed a firearms warrant in Thamesmead. A suspect was arrested for possession of firearms linked to their DNA. A search revealed 3kg of cocaine, amphetamine, tasers, and £70k cash.

The operation, carried out under MPS’s Operation Bunting and Kent Police’s Operation Neon, was hailed as a success by authorities.

The investigation continues as police work to further explore the suspect’s connections and potential criminal network.
