Police Appeal for Witnesses After Hit-and-Run in Leigh Park Injures Two Children

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a hit-and-run collision in Leigh Park on Tuesday, September 17, which left two children injured.

The incident took place shortly after 5 PM on Dunsbury Way, between the junctions of High Lawn Way and Fulflood Road. Two children—one under the age of ten and the other in their teens—were struck by a vehicle. Fortunately, both sustained only minor injuries.

The vehicle involved is described as a 4×4, possibly a Land Rover Discovery or a similar model with blacked-out windows. According to witnesses, the driver initially exited the vehicle but then drove off without exchanging details. He is described as wearing black shorts, a black top, and a cap.

Police are eager to speak with the driver and are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or seen a vehicle matching the description. Officers are particularly interested in dash cam, mobile phone, doorbell camera, or CCTV footage that may have captured the incident.

Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact the police by calling 101 and quoting incident number 44240400237.

Alternatively, information can be reported online via the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary website, or anonymously through Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111 or visiting their website.

Police are urging anyone with relevant details, no matter how small, to come forward to help bring clarity to this incident.
