A thug who spat in the faces of two police officers has been locked up just two days after his arrest. The vile attack happened in Worksop, leaving one officer spat in the eye.
Aggressive Hagerty Caught Red-Handed
32-year-old Daniel Hagerty sparked trouble after cops were called to a disturbance on Edinburgh Walk on Sunday, April 19. When police arrested him, Hagerty flew into a rage, swearing and spitting.
- First, he spat directly into one officer’s face – the spit getting right in his eye.
- When another cop stepped in, Hagerty twisted his head and spat at him too.
His disgusting actions didn’t go unpunished. Hagerty pleaded guilty to two counts of assaulting emergency workers at nottingham/" title="Nottingham" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Nottingham Magistrates’ Court just two days later, on Tuesday, April 21.
Zero Tolerance: Police Chief Hits Back
Chief Superintendent Rob Griffin said: “This sentence sends a clear message that vile acts such as this will not be put up with in any shape or form – especially not now.”
“In these worrying times, deliberately spitting at front-line officers is both despicable and appalling.”
“There is zero tolerance towards assaults on police and emergency workers. Offenders will be dealt with robustly.”
“Our officers risk their welfare every day to protect the public. They will not tolerate this abusive behaviour.”
Hagerty now faces six months behind bars for his disgusting attack on those serving the community.
