Man Convicted of Murder After CCTV Disproves Self-Defence Claim

A man who claimed self-defence in a fatal stabbing has been convicted of murder after detectives uncovered CCTV footage disproving his version of events.

Sabin Manda, 32, of Popes Lane, Ealing, was found guilty of murdering 27-year-old Bajram Luli on Thursday, September 26, at Inner London Crown Court. The incident occurred on March 11, 2024, in Sudbury Heights Avenue, Greenford, following a dispute over drugs between the two men.

Manda initially claimed that he acted in self-defence, saying he feared for his life. However, after the attack, he went into hiding, alleging concerns about possible retaliation. Meanwhile, detectives worked tirelessly to gather evidence, ultimately securing CCTV footage that captured the incident and showed it to be an unprovoked attack.

Detective Inspector Adam Guttridge of Specialist Crime South commended the investigation team, stating, “The investigation team worked long and hard to locate footage of this incident that helped disprove Sabin Manda’s claims of self-defence. This was an unprovoked attack, and Manda will now face many years in prison to consider the consequences of his actions. I can only hope his conviction brings some comfort to Bajram’s family.”

Manda was remanded in custody and will be sentenced at Inner London Crown Court on Thursday, October 11.
