FirstEnergy Gears Up to Battle Hurricane Helene Power Outages
FirstEnergy Corp. is mobilising 200 line workers and support staff to tackle widespread power outages predicted from Hurricane Helene. Crews are heading to North Carolina and Georgia to assist Duke Energy Carolinas and Georgia Power, with departures starting Wednesday and arrivals expected by early Saturday.
Hurricane Helene Threatens Florida and Southeast Coast
Helene is set to slam Florida’s west coast and the Big Bend region Thursday evening, bringing fierce winds, storm surges, and flash floods. Tropical storm warnings blanket Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and parts of western North Carolina.
FirstEnergy teams will deploy to the worst-hit areas as soon as it’s safe. The company’s crews hail from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, and West Virginia, ready to jump in where the power goes out.
