Police Appeal for Witnesses Following Weekend Assault in Southampton

Officers investigating an assault that took place in Southampton over the weekend are appealing for witnesses to come forward. The incident occurred around 12:15 a.m. on Saturday, September 28, on Shirley Road near Rio’s bar.

Police received a report of an altercation involving a group of people. During the incident, it was reported that a man was struck by a silver Nissan Juke 4×4. Officers attended the scene and found a man in his 20s with minor injuries to his face and head.

A 26-year-old man from Southampton has been arrested on suspicion of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm in connection with the incident. He has since been released on conditional bail while investigations continue.

Authorities believe that several people were in the area at the time of the incident but have not yet come forward. Officers are urging anyone who witnessed the altercation or has any information that may help the investigation to contact them.
