Man Hit by Car in Midnight Melee Outside Rio’s Bar, Southampton
Chaos on Shirley Road
Police are on the hunt for witnesses after a violent assault outside Rio’s bar in Southampton just after midnight on Saturday, September 28. At around 12:15 a.m., officers were called to Shirley Road following reports of a brawl involving a group of people.
Shocking Hit-and-Run
During the fracas, a man in his 20s was struck by a silver Nissan Juke 4×4. The victim suffered minor injuries to his face and head but has thankfully survived. Police quickly swooped on the scene to launch an investigation.
Suspect Arrested and Released on Bail
A 26-year-old Southampton man was arrested on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm. He has since been released on conditional bail as inquiries continue. Police believe several others witnessed the attack but have yet to step forward.
