A684 Closed for Vehicle Load Transfer and Recovery After Lorry Accident

Motorists are advised to avoid the A684 between Sedbergh and the M6 after a lorry accident resulted in a road closure this morning. The incident occurred at approximately 6:00 am when a lorry carrying a full load of chickens overturned at the bottom of Blackhorse, blocking access between Sedbergh and the M6.

The road remains closed for vehicle recovery and load transfer, with the lorry’s trailer positioned on the A684 and the unit blocking the B6256. Fortunately, the driver of the vehicle has been reported as unharmed.

Traffic is being diverted at M6 junction 37, with road users advised to take alternative routes. Both the A684 and the B6256 are affected, and emergency crews are currently at the scene working to clear the blockage and manage the transfer of the lorry’s load.

Officials have urged the public to avoid the area if possible and seek alternative routes until further notice. There is no estimated timeframe yet for when the road will reopen.

Updates will follow as the situation progresses and recovery efforts continue.
