Police investigation continues as man taken to hospital after Woolwich flat fire

A man has been taken to hospital following a significant flat fire in Woolwich in the early hours of October 12. The blaze broke out in a mid-terraced house on Brookhill Road, which had been converted into flats.

London Fire Brigade dispatched eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters to the scene, with the first emergency call received at 3:50 a.m. Crews from Plumstead, Greenwich, and East Greenwich fire stations battled the flames for nearly two hours before bringing the fire under control shortly after 5:20 a.m.

The fire destroyed a second-floor flat and caused extensive damage to half of the roof. Around 14 residents from neighbouring properties evacuated before the brigade’s arrival. One man was treated at the scene by London Ambulance Service and taken to the hospital. His current condition is unknown.
