Thousands Report Facebook and Instagram Outages Across the UK

 

Thousands of internet users across the UK are experiencing issues with Facebook and Instagram, with many reporting difficulties accessing the platforms on Monday evening, October 14. According to outage tracking site Down Detector, the problems began around 6:08 pm, with over 2,900 users reporting issues with Facebook and a further 2,000 facing similar problems with Instagram.

Users are reporting a range of problems on Facebook, with 55% saying they are struggling to access the website, 27% encountering issues with the app, and 18% having difficulties signing in. The outages have been widespread, affecting major cities such as Glasgow, London, and Manchester.

As the issues persisted, users flocked to X, formerly known as Twitter, to express their frustration. One user commented, “thought for a sec that i Lost my 13yo Facebook account,” while another asked, “Is Facebook Down? Can’t Log in #facebooklogin #facebookdown.”

Similar frustrations were shared by Instagram users. One tweet read, “It looks like Instagram is experiencing technical issues, with multiple reports of malfunctions. Stay tuned for updates! #InstagramDown.” Another joked, “Instagram going down when i was trying to stalk people… now i have to go do my homework i guess.”
