Body Found in Thames After Dramatic Six-Day Search
A man’s body has been pulled from the River Thames near Sunbury today after a massive search operation that began on 11 October. Emergency crews from Surrey Police, Surrey Search and Rescue, Berkshire, and Kent teams scoured the river for days following a desperate call-out.
Six Adults Entered Water — One Still Missing
The search started when emergency services were alerted at 8.50am on 11 October. Six adults had gone into the water near Wheatleys Eyot. Five were rescued alive, but one man, believed to be in his 60s, was nowhere to be found.
Family Notified as Investigation Ongoing
Specialist teams later discovered a body close to Sunbury Weir. Formal ID is pending, but the missing man’s family has already been informed and is being supported by a dedicated officer.
Surrey Police confirmed the death is not being treated as suspicious, with an investigation underway to determine the exact circumstances.
“Throughout this tragic incident, we have been in close contact with the man’s family to offer support during this incredibly difficult time,” said Chief Inspector Andy Jenkins of North Surrey Police. “Our thoughts remain with them, and we ask that their privacy is respected.”
