British shot put record holder and two-time World’s Strongest Man champion Geoff Capes has passed away at the age of 75. The iconic athlete, who set the British record for the furthest shot put throw with a distance of 21.68 meters in 1980, died in Lincoln on 23 October 2024.
In a statement, his family expressed their sadness, saying: “The family of Geoffrey Capes would like to announce his sad passing today, 23rd October. Britain’s finest shot putter and twice world’s strongest man.”
