Labour MP Mike Amesbury in Street Scuffle After Night Out
Labour MP Mike Amesbury found himself in hot water after an early Saturday morning altercation on Main Street, Frodsham. Footage circulating on social media shows Amesbury pointing at a man on the ground, shouting, “You won’t ever threaten your MP ever again, will you?”
MP Claims He Felt Threatened
The clash reportedly followed a night out with friends. In a statement, Amesbury said he felt threatened before tensions boiled over. He proactively reported the incident to Cheshire Police and promised full cooperation with their investigation.
“Last night, I was involved in an incident that took place after I felt threatened on the street following an evening out with friends,” Amesbury said. “This morning, I contacted Cheshire Police myself to report what happened during this incident.”
He added, “I will not be making further public comment but will, of course, cooperate with any inquiries if required by Cheshire Police. I remain fully committed to working hard for the people of Runcorn and Helsby, and am determined to remain an open and accessible MP for our community.”
